About this training event

The Bar offers unrivalled opportunities for professional satisfaction, public service and personal growth. Yet the levels of personal commitment and responsibility within the profession often come with high levels of stress, anxiety and exhaustion. Working in these conditions compromises client care and professional performance, impacts personal wellbeing and relationships, and ultimately risks burnout.

We have been through this journey and successfully made it to the other side, by learning and using tools and insights that turned past years of stressful lawyering into a healthy, enjoyable and sustainable Bar practice. In this workshop we share what we have learned and teach it to you so that you can embed resilience into your practice straight away.

Who is it for?

This workshop is for practising barristers, pupils and bar students who want solutions to overcome stress, anxiety and exhaustion, and tools to support sustainable, high quality practice.

What will you learn?

You will leave the workshop with:

· An audit of your own practice, giving you awareness of the patterns and habits that undermine your resilience and increase your stress

· A framework for building a resilient and sustainable practice throughout your career

· Practical tools to de-stress client meetings, advice, case preparation and advocacy

· Strategies to transform set backs, negative feelings and problems into learning and growth

· Actions you can take to support you and your practice, straight away

· Resources for further learning

· c.6 hrs CPD (established practitioner’s programme)

The workshop is co-facilitated jointly by James Pereira KC and Zita Tulyahikayo. It will take place at 10.00-5.30 at FTB Chambers, London EC4Y7BY on 1 July 2023. Further details will be provided after registration.
